Dencun and proto danksharding Mar 13, 2024

The Dencun upgrade activated on March 13, 2024. Its headline change, EIP-4844, added blobs, a cheaper temporary data space for rollups. Fees on layer 2 networks like Arbitrum, Optimism and Base dropped sharply right after.

Spot ether ETFs start trading Jul 23, 2024

After the SEC approved exchange rule changes on May 23, 2024, the first US spot ether ETFs began trading on July 23, 2024. Unlike some later products, they did not stake their ether at launch.
