Origin story
Uniswap is a decentralized exchange on Ethereum created by Hayden Adams, who built it after being laid off as a mechanical engineer. Instead of an order book it uses automated market maker pools, an idea Vitalik Buterin had described.
Uniswap v1 launched on November 2, 2018. The UNI governance token arrived in September 2020 with an airdrop of 400 UNI to every past user.
