Origin story
Decred was launched on February 8, 2016 by developers who had worked on btcd, a Bitcoin node written in Go. It combines proof of work mining with proof of stake voting, so ticket holders approve blocks and vote on changes to the rules.
Decred also has a treasury funded by part of each block reward and governed by stakeholders.
