Origin story
LUNC is the original Terra chain's token, first called LUNA. Terraform Labs, founded by Do Kwon and Daniel Shin, used it to back UST, an algorithmic stablecoin.
In May 2022 UST lost its dollar peg, and the mint and burn mechanism printed trillions of LUNA, wiping out about 40 billion dollars in value. A new chain took the LUNA name, and the original became Terra Classic (LUNC). Do Kwon later pleaded guilty to fraud in the US.
