Origin story
UNUS SED LEO is the exchange token of Bitfinex. Its parent, iFinex, sold about 1 billion dollars of LEO in a private sale in May 2019, soon after New York prosecutors said Bitfinex had covered an 850 million dollar loss at payment processor Crypto Capital.
iFinex committed to buy back and burn LEO using part of its revenue and funds recovered from the Crypto Capital loss and the 2016 Bitfinex hack.
Founders: iFinex, the parent company of the Bitfinex exchange.
