Origin story
Sky is the new name of MakerDAO, the protocol founded by Rune Christensen that issued DAI, the first major decentralized stablecoin, in December 2017.
In August 2024 Maker rebranded as Sky, and on September 18, 2024 the SKY token and the USDS stablecoin launched, with MKR convertible at 24,000 SKY each.
