Origin story
Dash was launched by Evan Duffield on January 18, 2014 as XCoin, renamed Darkcoin weeks later and Dash in March 2015. A bug caused about 1.9 million coins to be mined in the first two days, a point critics still raise.
Dash added masternodes, a second tier of nodes that enable instant and private send features and vote on a treasury that funds development.
