Origin story
Pepe is a meme coin launched on Ethereum in April 2023 by an anonymous team, themed on the Pepe the Frog cartoon created by Matt Furie. It has no stated utility; its own site calls it a meme coin with no intrinsic value.
It rose very fast in its first weeks and became one of the largest meme coins.
