Ripple fined 125 million dollars
The court sets a 125 million dollar civil penalty for institutional sales.

On August 7, 2024 Judge Torres entered final judgment ordering Ripple to pay a civil penalty of about 125 million dollars and barring future violations in institutional sales. The SEC had asked for close to 2 billion dollars.
Both sides filed appeals later in 2024. In 2025, under new SEC leadership, the parties moved to end the case, and in August 2025 the appeals were dismissed, leaving the July 2023 ruling and the penalty in place.
